Welcome to team pugwash. We are a father / son combination of trackday regulars. This website is dedicated mainly to myself Peter Dixon's entry into the northern sports and saloon car championship. 2009 was my 1st year of motorsport. I only intended to do 1 year of racing to just say I'd 'done it', but after only 1 race I had the bug and am looking forward to doing it again in 2010. Myself and my father Andrew have been doing trackdays in his and my own westfield for several years now. After my uncle and a freind started racing I quickly got the bug and my westfield went up for sale to fund a race entry. This site will also include pictures and video's from the trackdays we have done and are still doing.

7-7-10 - Easytrack Cadwell Park Trackday

A few of the locostbuilder boys and trackday regulars headed down to cadwell for an Easytrack trackday. We'd made some slight changes to the pinto since Oulton where the brakes were crap and the car understeered. We'd re-ligned the rear brake shoe's and dropped the front tyre pressures. Although these were only small improvements, they made the difference. The car felt much better on the brakes and the front end was much more pointy. I had a couple of good sessions including chasing down Rich Mawsons Sylva Striker and a very quick BMW M Coupe. Andrew had a few good sessions behind Paul Fishers very rapid clio 172 and various other cars. All in all, a very enjoyable day and good craic in the paddock.

4-7-10 - Northern Sports & Saloon Car Championship - Round 6 - Croft Circuit

After taking the car home, we found that the fuel pressure had dropped half a bar. We tweaked this back upto where we thought it should be and returned to Croft for race 2. Once again I made a great start, I actually took to the Gravel to avoid Ron Harpers spitfire that seemed to bog at clervaux. This didn't hinder me however and I put 4 cars and a good gap between me and Moss. The car felt better at 1st but after just 1-2 laps it started to pull the previous days tricks again. This time the car appeared to still have its top end but stuttered even worse out of the corners. I decided to push for a finish. I fell down the order and Moss eventually caught and re-passed me alongside Mick Starkey. Un-fortunately for Mick, he had his own miss-fire problems and I re-passed him a lap or two later. Jason in his re-juvinated pug 205 qas quickly catching me on the last lap but I managed to hold on. A good salvage result but the whole weekend was a missed opportunity. Moss's saxo seemed very unusually off the pace whereas the civic seemed to still have it. Oh well, onto Knockhill!

3-7-10 - Northern Sports & Saloon Car Championship - Round 5 - Croft Circuit

Round 5 at Croft was host to some very hot weather (a rare thing at croft). I was looking forward to qualifying after a 2 month break and had been studying my previous vids to see where I could improve. Qually started reasonably well, I got a couple of banker laps on a 139.5 and a 1.39.9 and then decided to push. It was then that the car started to lose power. It was stuttering out of some of the corners and lacked top end speed. I came in early as I was unsure to what damage was being done under the bonnet. We found that the oil level in the car was a little low, the thinking was that this was de-activating the vtec and thats what caused my problems. I didn't hold much hope for a good qualifying spot but was suprised to find I'd qualified a comfortable 1st in both races, this was a 1st for me. In the race, I made a brilliant start putting 2 cars between me and Moss in the saxo. Unfortunately, our previous thought about the oil was un-founded and the car started to lose power and stutter again. After dropping way down the field I pulled in for a DNF. I was very dissapointed after my best qualifying and potentially having the best pace in my class. On a side note, it was good to see Ron Harper back out in his Spitfire, now with Honda S2000 power. To say he had an interesting 1st race back would be an understatement.

15-6-10 - Circuit Days Oulton Park Trackday

Team Pugwash, Colin in his megabusa and Jeff in his CSR260 made there way to Oulton Park for a trackday. Unfortunately, Pete suffered from self inflicted illness through most of the day so sat a lot of the sessions out. This left Colin, Jeff and Andrew along with the trackaction-online boys to have fun. A good day was had and the weather stayed good all day.

9-5-10 - Northern Sports & Saloon Car Championship - Round 4 - Croft Circuit

I struggled for pace in this race. I went the wrong way with the tyre pressures and the car didn't feel as good. I couldn't get nears the saxo in this race but with Mick a distance 3rd, I cruised to a 2nd place finish, mainly watching Chris Weatley's Seat Cupra battling Matt Addisons caterham in front. That kept me entertained. :-)

8-5-10 - Northern Sports & Saloon Car Championship - Round 3 - Croft Circuit

Again, I struggled in qualifying but went quicker than I had ever done before setting a personal best of 1.39.50 which I was pleased with. In the race, after an initial battle with Alan Mcphersons Formula 27, I got some clear air to try and chase down Paul's saxo. With the clear track I was able to push and found yet more time setting another personal best with a 1.38.690, I was over the moon with this. I finished a very solid 2nd in class and a bit closer to Paul Moss.

1-5-10 - Trackday Club Track Evening - Teesside Autodrome.

We'd fitted a new gearbox from a Honda Civic VTi. This is a hydraulic clutch gearbox so required a bit of fabrication to fix as my car is clutch cable. It all went in relatively easily. The box has been fitted with some close ratio gears as well as uprated bearings and synchro's. Overall I was impressed, probably more so with the standard Honda LSD that came with the box.

18-4-10 - Northern Sports & Saloon Car Championship - Round 2 - Croft Circuit

The 2nd race was a little more interesting. I got behind Ian Humpish's V6 beetle. He was quick around the 1st half of the lap but struggled on the 2nd half. This would allow people behind me to catch up and attack, Mick Starkey and Mark Armstrong both had a go but I managed to just hold out and finish 2nd in class. A much more entertaining race which I enjoyed.

17-4-10 - Northern Sports & Saloon Car Championship - Round 1 - Croft Circuit

A mixed grid of some very quick cars and not so quick cars (myself) made qualifying difficult. I only got two clearish laps but these equalled my best of last year so I was happy. I qualified 2nd in class alongside Paul Moss's saxo. After making a great start, I struggled in the race due to getting the tyre pressures wrong and finished a relatively lonely 2nd. A solid if not un-spectacular start to the season.

9-4-10 - The Trackday Club - Teesside autodrome

With the problems of cadwell park hopefully fixed, we headed to teesside for another test. The map proved still not perfect but acceptable and the car went well. We had a few good chases with various cars. These days offer fantastic value for money, £99 for your breakfast, lunch, a trackday and a kart race!

26-3-10 - Trackaction-Online Trackday - Cadwell Park

After a quick shakedown at teesside, we took the car to cadwell park for a proper test day and to see if the improvements had been beneficial. Unfortunately the car wasn't playing ball and developed a missfire at high rpms. Still, we made the best of the day and still had a few good sessions. An enjoyable and well organised day with the track-action crew.

After fitting the throttle bodies and emerald ecu, Andrew takes the civic for a shakedown test at teesside autodrome. Everything worked as it should and the car sounded fantastic!
