Westfield SEW Pinto

The original kit for this car was bought in 1999, being completed in early 2001. The car back then was a fairly standard and mild road car. The engine had 120bhp, it had comfy seats, a windscreen and soft suspension. It stayed like this until Andrew did his 1st trackday, then the upgrades started.

1st, the chocolate rollbar was replaced with an RAC unit (much stronger). We started to use colway F2 tyre's which were much grippier than the dunlop road tyre's we were using. Then we moved onto used slicks that could be had for as little as £12 a piece. They gripped about the same as a toyo 888 or yoko AO48 but were much cheaper and seemed to last longer. The windscreen was inevitably replaced with an aeroscreen and the suspension was firmed up. A Quaife LSD was a nice addition allowing the car to put its power down much better. Power rose to 140bhp with a ported head and cam but this was set to rise again. The last engine improvement came in late 2007 when a 2.1 unit was built with stock car cam. Power jumped to 170bhp and 155 ft lbs of torque. The latest upgrades were wilwood 4 pot brake calipers on the front and a full caged roll cage, bought for safety but in reality to also stiffen the car.

No more future modifications are planned for the car as the performance is more than adequate for trackdays.
